Accepting new members, and promoting the club

First General Meeting of 2008:

ISAYU would like to invite anybody interested in getting involved with us to join us on Tuesday September 23^rd inside Student Center at the GSA room (430). For your convenience this year we have two sessions:

1- 11:30 AM -1:30 PM

2- 4 Pm – 6 PM

The election will take place between 6 PM – 7 PM.

In this meeting we will

- Introduce the new Executive Committee.

- Tell you about our goals set out for 08-09

- Share some of our programs and events that we are planning to host/sponsor this year.

- Explain the different kinds of involvement and how you can help

- Talk briefly about our constitution

- Fill out the office hours for board members

- Collect membership information and membership fees

At the end of the day at 6PM we will progress with out election which will last an hour.

If you would like to Nominate for any of the following positions, you MUST:

-          Be a current York Student

-          Have been an active board member for at least one semester in the past

-          Have been an Executive Member of ISAYU in the past, in order to nominate yourself for Vice Presidency

-          Submit your nominee application by Tuesday September the 16^th, 2008 by 5 PM at the YFS office at the Student Center. (The forms can be picked up at our office or printed by clicking HERE)

-          Come prepared for the day of election to give a 5 minute speech as well.

The following positions are vacant:

-          Vice President

-          Treasurer

-          Director of External Affairs

-          Director of Internal Affairs

-          Director of Communications

-          Director of Academic Affairs

-          Director of Community Outreach

-          Event Coordinator

-          Sports Coordinator

Please remember that ONLY Ordinary (paid) and Board members shall cast their votes during the election; upon presenting their current York Student Card.

Annual Election Day of ISAYU Will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 from 2:30pm to 6:00pm at 321 @ STUDENT CENTER (GSA Room).

The other positions only have one candidate and therefore they are not going to be on the ballots.

All voters must have their STUDENT CARD with their STUDENT NUMBER presented before voting to confirm their elegibility as CURRENT YORK STUDENTS.

Poetry is a true art, expressing real emotions and reality through beautiful, lasting words. Iran is known for its famous poets, and their magnificent literatures. The ISAYU is pleased to announce that we will be holding our annual Poetry & Music night this Wednesday, January 30, 2008. You are more than welcome to bring a piece of your favourite poetry to reflect up on along with your musical instruments to present your talents. This event will take place in 430 Student Centre at 5:00 P.M.
